How many reasons can you think of as to why this is a mind-blowing Easter? Easter Sunday is the best day of the year for all Christians around the world. It would be a great exercise to list why you think it’s so. Will you tell the Lord, share them with a friend, and be amazed all over again?

When It Began

The Lord regenerated me when I was twenty-five years old. Though that was a long time ago, I’m still amazed at His profound grace in my life. It’s something I never want to get over. Paul’s words to his friend Timothy are regular reminders to me of God’s great mercy.

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life (1 Timothy 1:15-16).

The good Lord said, “Yes,” to me. He said, “I want you.” He took me, washed me, and showed me incredible mercy. After all this time, I have yet to get over His gift of salvation. I trust those thoughts are yours too. I suppose the saying is overused but continues to be applicable: I’m doing better than I deserve.

But It’s Better

As good as my regeneration was, the thing that has impressed me the most about my Lord is His persevering grace after He pulled me out of a horrible pit.

He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.

Psalm 40:2

Ten Reasons to Love God

  1. He declared you not guilty.
  2. He released you from your shame.
  3. He chose to forget your wrongs.
  4. He cares for your soul.
  5. He connected you to His body.
  6. He leads you in paths of righteousness.
  7. He forgives you of all sins.
  8. He perseveres with you.
  9. He fights for you.
  10. He calls you His friend.

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.

Psalm 34:6

Ten Reasons I Love God

Now and Then

His regeneration was profound, and I would never minimize the day He declared me not guilty and adopted me into His family. But it has been His persevering grace after salvation that regularly boggles my mind. He forgave me the day we met, and He has been faithful to forgive me ever since (1 John 1:9).

Then there is Easter—a profound reminder of the lengths the Lord went to give me the transcendent benefits of salvation.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.

Psalm 103:2

And then there is heaven—the place where I can adore Him forever.

Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!

And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,

To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!

Revelation 5:11-13
