Choose Life – Gospel of hope in a culture of death – (24,000 words) The title of this book is Choose Life. It is common to see these two words in bold letters on a poster outside an abortion clinic or jumping out at us from a bumper sticker, but this directive is more than a pro-life slogan. It is a worldview anchored in the character of God.
God is the Creator of the universe and the Author of all life. When God created the world, He created it alive and flourishing. Everything God made was good because God is good. There was no sin, no suffering, and no death.
It wasn’t until our first parents, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God in the garden that sin entered the human story; and thereby, the story of the world.
The struggle between life and death has existed since the fall and every generation has faced its own challenges. We live in a world that does not value human life because it does not know God. In the face of grave injustice, widespread oppression, and systematic killing, no one can remain neutral. We can deceive ourselves, and even others, that such neutrality exists, but we cannot deceive God (Proverbs 24:11-12).
The purpose of this book isn’t to cover every aspect of the abortion debate or answer every argument. The purpose is to start a conversation and to encourage God’s people to think through the issue of abortion in light of God’s Word and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Too many Christians remain ignorant of what is happening in their own communities and even within their own churches, too many pastors remain silent, and too many within the Church have bought the lie that abortion is a solution: that we can fix our society by killing our neighbors (in this case, pre-born children).
My prayer is for the LORD to use this book to bring light to this problem in our culture. May He raise up many advocates for the pre-born.
