We started making these trips as a family in 2015. Lucia and I waited until our children were older so they could benefit from the travel as well as help us serve the folks with whom we would be connecting.
For example, we have two teen drivers now, so they can do the heavy-lifting of driving, which releases Lucia and me to work as we move down the highway. They also run our book table while at speaking events. This year, Tristen mastered our Live Chat feature on our website, where she engages with the folks who need technical and tutorial help as they come to our ministry. Also, it was vital to have support staff who can oversee the day-to-day happenings of the ministry, which our VA’s (Virtual Assistants) do admirably.
Our work never ceases because it’s global and in cyberspace. There is no second that someone is not on our website, in our “sanctification center” in the sky. Though we have a small team (VA’s), they are efficient and competent to care for our guests, as well as the ongoing training of our students.
Because of the “redemptive use of technology,” I can serve in a dual-role of engaging folks by going to them in real-time and space as well as provide oversight and care of our “ongoing cyber ministry.” This year, there were 42 meetings set up that varied from speaking on Sundays, church staff meetings, men and women’s Bible study training, addiction recovery equipping, staff counseling sessions, other type counseling sessions, biblical counseling ministry training, donor connections, plus meeting with our web development team in St. Augustine.
Below is the full list of meetings, to give you an idea of what we do on the road. My hope is not just to speak in a unidirectional way (monologue) but to also engage folks in dialogue as we work together on their most pressing concerns. (We did have three cancellations due to scheduling conflicts.)

Our family will arrive home, Lord willing, on July 31. Then Lucia and I will head out to Houston seven days later for a multi-day training event. I was asked to teach at a local church in Katy, TX on how to connect the gospel to everyday living. We will come back for three days and then our whole family will fly to Idaho to teach at a family camp.
